Even now when I hear Santa Barbara, I think of the TV show from my childhood. Probably most of you Americans don't remember this old soap opera but it was HUGE in Russia when I was a kid and my mom loved it. So I am like Pavlov's dog with Santa Barbara--as soon as I hear the name the theme song starts playing in my head. I can't help it! Haha
Could I have ever imagined that I would one day be walking down the streets of this town? Of course not! For me it was always a different world that barely even existed. But God's plans are way more unpredictable and brighter than I could imagine!
It was my second time in Santa Barbara in the last 18 months, and not a lot has changed in the interim. The town itself still feels like a small and pretty little European town...and also the crowds of homeless people are everywhere.

Могла ли я когда-нибудь представить, что я буду гулять по улицам этого города? Нет, конечно! Для меня это был всегда другой мир, нереальный несуществующий мир. Правда планы свыше куда более непредсказуемее и ярче, чем мы можем себе вообразить!
Это был мой второй приезд в Санта-Барбару, и за полтора года тут ничего особо не изменилось. Сам город как выглядел игрушечным европейским красивым городком так и выглядит сейчас; как толпы неадекватных, либо адекватных бомжей ходили по центральной улице, так и ходят :)
Steven and I do not go to expensive restaurants very often; the moderately priced joints are more our style. This time we searched through Yelp and found a place called Kyle's Kitchen. As it turns out, the prices were pretty cheap! And the food was tasty too. As an added benefit, part of the money you pay goes to a rotating list of charities. What a great combo!
Стивен и я не часто ходим в дорогие рестораны, мы больше ориентируемся на средне-статистические кафе/рестораны. В этот раз мы искали через Yelp куда пойти, и наш выбор пал на Kyle's Kitchen. Как оказалось, цены там более чем демократичные, еда вкусная, так еще и часть денег, которые вы заплатили за еду, направляются на благотворительность. Хорошее комбо!
We also found a nice little coffee shop called The French Press with lots of natural light. If you're going to walk through the downtown area, you should check it out!
А еще мы нашли светлую кофейню с очень вкусным кофе, называется она -- The French Press. Если будете прогуливаться по центру Санта-Барбары - загляните туда.
Walking around Santa Barbara you never know where the next cute backyard or shop front window or little street is. Every step of it is so pretty! My camera was on my neck all day long because I wanted to take a picture of everything.
Гуляя по Санта-Барбаре не знаешь какой милый закуток, дворик или витрину ты увидишь в следующую секунду. На каждом шагу поджидает красота! У меня камера была целый день на шее, так как хотелось запечатлеть ВСЁ вокруг нас.
The highlight of the day was when Steven agreed to run into a crowd of seagulls and scare them so that I could get a good shot of them flying. That's you call a loving husband! He was fully prepared for little special surprises to rain down on him...thankfully that didn't happen.
All in all, Santa Barbara is a really nice town where you can hide from the noise of LA for a day or two. You can chill out and recharge and come back with new energy! I hope next time when we come we will find some more new treasures--that's what makes a place worth revisiting again and again.
Моё самое яркое впечатление за день - это когда Стивен согласился забежать в гущу орущих чаек, чтобы их распугать, а я бы смогла сделать неплохой кадр. Вот что значит любящий муж! Он морально готовился выйти белым из этого задания, если вы понимаете о чём я :)
В общем и целом, Санта Барбара прекрасный городок, куда можно сбежать из шума ЛА на денек, отдохнуть и вернуться с новыми силами. Надеюсь в наш следующий приезд, мы найдем новые потаённые уголки, куда захочется возвращаться вновь и вновь.
